Why Recycled PET Felt Is the Future of Acoustic Design

Every EFEKT panel is made from the same base material: recycled PET felt. It is worth explaining what that actually is.

What it actually is

PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate — the plastic used in most beverage bottles. Post-consumer bottles are collected, cleaned, shredded into fibre, and needle-punched into a dense, felt-like sheet.

Why density is the number that actually matters

Density determines both acoustic performance and durability. EFEKT panels run 1200 to 2400 g/m² depending on the product line.

How it compares to foam

Open-cell acoustic foam is cheaper up front but yellows, crumbles, and can hold moisture in humid, air-conditioned environments — PET felt does not.
